Nelson Mandela Bay renews bid for Sailun tyre plant at Coega
Nelson Mandela Bay is seeking to secure a proposed R2 billion Sailun tyre manufacturing and recycling facility at the Coega SEZ.
Nelson Mandela Bay has renewed its efforts to secure a proposed R2 billion investment by Sailun Group for a tyre manufacturing and recycling facility at the Coega Special Economic Zone.
The proposal was referenced by Executive Mayor Babalwa Lobishe as part of the metro's drive to attract investment and industrial activity.
The project remains proposed. No construction date, financial close or formal Sailun project confirmation was reported with the update, and those details should be confirmed before publication.
If realised, the facility would combine tyre manufacturing and recycling at Coega, adding to the region's industrial investment pipeline.
SATreads previously reported Sailun's intention to invest in South African manufacturing. The publication will continue to monitor confirmed developments from Sailun, the Coega Development Corporation and the metro.
