Pretoria Residents Vote Tiger Wheel & Tyre the 'Best Tyre Fitment Centre' for the 13th Consecutive Year

6 twt pretoria-newsIn a world of uncertainty, the people of Pretoria are absolutely certain of one thing - that Tiger Wheel & Tyre is the 'Best Tyre Fitment Centre'. For the 13th consecutive year, Pretoria News readers have voted the brand tops in the newspaper's 'Readers' Choice Best of the Best in Pretoria' awards.

NEW FROM TIGER WHEEL & TYRE - Journey Organiser GPS Logbook Automates and Expedites Tax & Business Travel Claims

23 twt-488817 1Are your tired of the hassle of keeping a logbook for business-related travel? Do inaccurate logs mean that your company or clients are not reimbursing you for the full amount you're owed, or that you can't claim the proper tax deduction for all your business travel? It's time you got the Journey Organiser GPS logbook from Tiger Wheel & Tyre.

Journey Organiser (JO) makes light work of tracking business-related travel. Simply download the JO app onto your Android or iOS smartphone, plug the JO into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket and pair it with your phone via Bluetooth to begin automatically logging your travel and time data so you can generate reports for your tax and business-related travel claims.

Of course not all travel is business related, so to distinguish between business and leisure trips, just push the JO button on the top of the device to flag your current trip as one for business. If you forget to do this, it's easy to recategorise the trip from your smartphone app.

More good news is that JO doesn't take your car's cigarette lighter socket out of play for use by other devices. Instead, it doubles as a high-current USB port, so you can plug other USB devices into it and charge them while using the JO. It also has its own built-in GPS engine and low-energy Bluetooth communications, which means you don't need to enable location services for the app and battery-drain of your mobile device is minimised.

Probably the greatest feature of JO is the ability to generate your business travel reports instantly from your smartphone, without having to download them to a PC, and submit them to your employer or client right away for faster reimbursement of business-related travel. Also, because your travel data is stored in cloud servers, there's no danger of losing the data. So come tax return time, all the info is right where you need it.

To learn more about this nifty device, go to the website www.twt.to or check it out at your nearest Tiger Wheel & Tyre store.

Firestone takes the party to the Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge

21 FIRESTONE 191117 003 1Firestone took the party to the Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge in Johannesburg this weekend.

The brand, which is part of Bridgestone South Africa, set up its Firestone Karaoke Kombis (#FirestoneKK) at the event and invited cyclists and spectators to sing their favourite songs.

This was the second large activation for Firestone’s unique #FirestoneKK activation, which sees two converted VW Kombis – one new and one old – travel the country as mobile karaoke studios.

At each event, the Kombis transform into karaoke studios where all aspiring singers can select their songs from a database of over 30 000 songs for either the old school 1972 VW Brasília Kombi or the new school 2017 VW Kombi. They then enter the respective old or new school kombi, grab their mikes and sing to their heart’s content.

Behind the scenes, technicians stream each performance to outside screens and speakers, mix and record the performance, upload it to YouTube and then send the participant a URL-notification via WhatsApp. This allows the singer to instantly share his or her performance.

Participants not only receive the evidence via a video link but their bravery and skills are also rewarded with Firestone memorabilia such as sunglasses, woven hats, bags, keyrings and a host of other memorabilia. The performers who showed the most spirit or received the loudest applause received even larger Firestone prizes.

“Music is universal and so we have found the Firestone Karaoke Kombis to be a welcome addition to any type of event. From its maiden event at the DStv Delicious Festival to our own corporate wellness day and soon the Cape Town Festival of Beer, the #FirestoneKK activation has proven to be very popular indeed,” says Patrick Leslie, the Brand and Channel Manager at Bridgestone South Africa.

While it is Firestone’s first #FirestoneKK event at the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge, its parent company Bridgestone is no stranger to cycling competitions. The company is the headline sponsor of the annual Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Race that takes place in the Cradle of Humankind.

For more information on the campaign and videos of some of the singers in action, visit firestonejourneys.com/firestone-music-kombi/.

South Coast Residents Rate Tiger Wheel & Tyre Tops

20 twt best-of-south-coast 1Tiger Wheel & Tyre is the "Best Tyre Shop" on the South Coast according to readers of the South Coast Herald newspaper, who rated the brand tops in the 2017 Readers' Choice Awards Best of the South Coast.

Winning a Readers' Choice Award is a significant achievement for the very reason that these awards do reflect the readers' choice, and are based upon the firsthand experience of readers with the companies they vote for. The newspaper, in turn, goes to great lengths to ensure the sanctity of the voting process. Each reader is allowed to vote only once in any or all of the categories they choose to vote in, and to ensure that is the case, independent auditors, Chantel Elliot and Company, audit the results.

"Yes, Tiger Wheel & Tyre does consistently win a lot of these types of awards, and I am probably repeating myself when I say that it just doesn't get old for us. We'll never take Readers' Choice awards and what they represent for granted. It's a pat on the back as well as encouragement to continue working hard at customer service," said Group Marketing Executive, Joe du Plooy. "Thank you South Coast Herald readers - your vote of confidence means everything to us!"

Continental one of SA's top companies to work for

8 Conti SA487849 1Continental Tyre South Africa will become the employer of choice for many of this year's matriculants and graduates after being named one of SA's leading companies to work for by an international research institute.

Last month, the Netherlands-based Top Employers Institute certified Continental as a Top Employer in South Africa for 2018, marking it as one which creates an optimal working environment for its employees.

The annual review recognises companies on every continent that provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and strive to continuously optimise employment practices.

For Continental, which celebrated its 70th year in South Africa this year, the kudos is a fitting acknowledgement of its role in the country's development.

"Since 1947, we have shared in our nation's rich history and our employees are representative of the vibrant and colourful community in which we operate," said CTSA managing director Shaun Uys.

"Receiving the Top Employer certification simply reconfirms our commitment to our employees and to creating opportunities for them to develop, grow and prosper within our organisation."

The Port Elizabeth-based manufacturing facility is the only Continental tyre plant in Africa, and employs around 1500 people in South Africa and the Sub-Saharan Africa region.

According to the company's general manager for human relations, Attie Higgs, continuous learning and development have become a sustainable advantage when driving a high-performance manufacturer like Continental.

"Our culture of commitment and accountability extends from top leadership to the factory floor, and is nurtured through development programmes that are linked to our business strategy," said Higgs, adding that career paths could include leadership development or the pursuit of a specialist career.

He said the company's talent management process gave employees and managers the opportunity to explore the employee's career path, find any development gaps and identify opportunities that would enrich the employee's personal development, while making a valuable contribution to the business.

"Development programmes are promoted via a variety of communication platforms, and employees are able to access information offered both locally and through the corporate head office," said Higgs.

"High-performing employees are often nominated for various corporate development programmes, which give these individuals access to a global network of colleagues and create visibility for their talents to senior executives who can accelerate promotional opportunities, not limited to South Africa."

Clean Sweep for Tiger Wheel & Tyre in Die Burger's "Jou Keuse" Awards

1 die-burger twt 1The results of Die Burger newspaper's 2017 Your Choice (Jou Keuse) awards are in and it's a clean sweep for Tiger Wheel & Tyre in the Western Cape. The popular Afrikaans daily newspaper called on readers to vote for their favourite companies in 71 different categories, to determine the top three winners in each, and Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores took all three top places in the car accessories category.

In first place was gold medalist Tiger Wheel & Tyre Bellville, followed by silver medalist Tiger Wheel & Tyre N1 City, and bronze medalist Tiger Wheel & Tyre Somerset West.

Group Marketing Executive, Joe du Plooy said Tiger Wheel & Tyre is immensely proud of the hardworking men and women at these three stores and for the customer endorsement that the awards represent.

He added, "We're truly grateful to the readers for making the effort to express, via their votes, how they feel about the service they receive from Tiger Wheel & Tyre. We never take these types of awards, and what they represent, for granted. Voters could have chosen just one of our stores and two other brand stores, or none of our stores, but the fact that they chose three of our stores is just tremendous and proves that we're doing something right."

To learn more about Tiger Wheel & Tyre and what makes it the most award-winning and best-loved wheel and tyre brand in Southern Africa, visit the website www.twt.to. You can also shop online, and online shoppers have the exclusive ability to "Book A Bay" online to have their newly purchased tyres and wheels fitted and services performed at the time and store of their choosing. Speed Stars a huge hit with public at SA Festival of Motoring

SAMEX1 0040More than 500 public hopefuls got their bums in the seat of the Speed Stars VW Up at the SA Festival of Motoring in a bid to qualify for the third season of Speed Stars. Held over the three days of the event, the two fastest times posted on each of the days would qualify for the next round and a step closer to taking on SA biggest stars!

Sponsored by VW Driving Academy and Goodyear, the popular TV show is back for a third season on Ignition, DSTV 189, starting on the 7th October. Each episode features two celebrity guests who are given professional driving instruction before being unleashed on the Zwartkops racetrack to set a timed lap, with the eight fastest times fighting it out for top honours in the show finale. In a Speed Stars first, the winner of will be decided in an actual race, with the finalists piloting eight identical, race ready VW Polo’s.

Show producer, Marius Roberts, first introduced the public element to the show in season two and it was public entrant, Sandro Godinho, who went on to win it all!

“It was so well received that we decided to expand the nationwide search this year, allowing more car crazy South Africans the chance to show off their driving skills on national television” said Marius Roberts.

With VW using Speed Stars as one of their activation platforms at this year’s Festival of Motoring, they gave the thousands of visitors who attended the event the unique opportunity to be in the proverbial hot seat! With only the two fastest times posted on each of the three event days qualifying for the next round, the competition was fast and furious on the tight and technical course.

Congratulations to the following entrants who qualified and will join Kennedy Mogotsi and Louis Pires in our final elimination round to be held on Saturday the 23rd
September in Johannesburg:

Karl Illenberger Rick Mesede
Jason Absmeier Junaid Rassool
Aiden Saville Jaden Laubscher

CELEBRITIES TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE

Speed Stars has also invited back some of the fastest celebrities from Season One and Two to contest two Wild Card slots up for grabs in Season Three. The crowds turned out in numbers on the final day of the event to cheer along their favourite celebrity! Battling it out for the final slot were Speed Stars Season Two Runner Up and the winner of the first The Voice SA, Richard Stirton, SA’s top chef Reuben Riffel and the strangely sexy fat guy, comedian heavyweight Jason Goliath. With 5fm’s Rob Forbes having already booked his place in this seasons show, the three stars were amped to show off their driving skills. Chef Reuben Riffel was on fire, setting the early pace and he carried that form through to the first elimination round, his time of 20,42 the quickest...but only just! Jason Goliath set a time of 20,47, enough to beat Richard’s time of 20,79 and eliminate him from the competition. So it came down to one final run - Reuben was super consistent posting a time of 20,43, putting all the pressure on the comedian. But Jason had the last laugh, saving his best punch line for the show finale, posting a blistering time of 19,76 and booking the final Celebrity Wild Card spot!

Tiger Wheel & Tyre Enhances X-Sure® Tyre Insurance Offering with Two New Products

twtTiger Wheel & Tyre has added two new products to its X-Sure® Tyre Insurance offering. The X-Sure® Gap and X-Sure® Comprehensive offerings are more than just complementary to the tried and trusted X-Sure® New and X-Sure® Used products; they fill in the blanks to make the X-Sure® range fully rounded and complete.

X-Sure® New is the proven product that is available to customers at selected Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores, upon purchase of new tyres. With this product motorists are insured for a credit of up to a maximum of R3 500 towards the purchase of a new tyre when their insured tyre/s gets damaged and is deemed irreparable. It's the same with X-Sure® Used, which extends this insurance coverage to vehicle owners who wish to insure the remaining tread depth on their used tyres against irreparable damage.

In both instances, the credit due for an irreparably damaged tyre is calculated by measuring the remaining tread depth on the insured tyre, minus the legal 1mm minimum. This remaining tread is expressed as a percentage credit towards the purchase of the same or a similar tyre.

The freshly launched X-Sure® Gap is an optional product for purchasers of Continental tyres, who qualify for the manufacturer's free ContiSure Road Hazard Warranty. At the time of purchase, these customers can now add X-Sure® Gap to boost their coverage to include the portion of tread that has already been used, minus the 1mm legal minimum, and up to a maximum credit equal to what the customer paid for the tyre at the time of purchase. This product has a two-year lifespan.

Finally, X-Sure® Comprehensive offers the ultimate peace of mind to vehicle owners, with insurance coverage that pays out a full credit - equal to 100% of the original tyre value/purchase price - towards the purchase of a new tyre to replace the irreparably damaged insured tyre.

"Tyres represent a significant expense for vehicle owners, especially if they opt for quality tyres, but whether you've purchased quality or budget tyres, driving on South African roads is a gamble in which you could lose your tyres at any given moment due to road hazards. That's a disheartening prospect, but thankfully at Tiger Wheel & Tyre it's one that has an easy solution - simply insure your tyres as you do all your other at-risk assets," said Group Marketing Executive Joe du Plooy.

Whether you need a little peace of mind or the whole caboodle, X-Sure® Tyre Insurance now has you covered and is available at selected Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores. To learn more and for terms and conditions, visit www.twt.to.
